Small and Big Block Wet Sump "Econo" pans use two-piece stampings (except No. 1488 which uses a one-piece stamping) Wet Sump "Econo" pans include a magnetic drain plug. Wet Sump "Econo" pans included trap door baffles to keep oil at the pickup during all conditions. Wet Sump "Econo" pans offer increased oil capacity to improve bearing life and engine durability. Small Block Chevy "Econo" pans include pan rail notches that will take up to a 4.000" stroke with most steel connecting rods and up to a 3.750" stroke with aluminum rods. Big Block Chevy "Econo" pans have pan rail notches that will take up to a 4.500" stroke with most steel connecting rods and up to a 4.250" stroke with most aluminum rods. Most "Econo" pans have an expanded metal directional windage screen and crankshaft scraper (requires no fitting) for maximum oil control and more horsepower. "Econo" pans will accept a stock GM starter. "Econo" pans are painted red.
